Gunungkidul, October 15, 2026 – PT Widodo Makmur Unggas Tbk (WMU) welcomed the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Andi Amran Sulaiman, to its poultry farming facility in Tonggor, Semanu, Gunungkidul, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The visit aimed to directly review production processes and the chicken and egg supply chain from upstream to downstream, following price anomalies in which market prices were considered inconsistent with established reference prices.

During the visit, the Minister of Agriculture commended Tumiyono, the founder of Widodo Makmur Group, for his 32 years of dedication to developing the livestock and food industries, as well as his contribution to employment. “We are grateful that there are still entrepreneurs like Mr. Tumiyono, who has been working hard for 32 years. We appreciate his efforts. Businesses like this must be properly supported so they can continue to thrive, as they employ many people,” he said.

The Minister emphasized the importance of a comprehensive evaluation of the distribution chain to ensure fair trading practices and prevent losses for both farmers and consumers. “We have sent a letter to the National Police Chief in response to complaints from producers and consumers so that these issues can be addressed promptly,” said Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman.

Furthermore, the Minister stated that the government, together with the relevant task force, would inspect the entire supply chain, from producers to consumers, to identify potential issues and ensure fair trade practices without disadvantaging any party, particularly farmers. “We will inspect the entire supply chain from upstream to downstream, involving the task force to examine each stage individually. No one should be harmed, especially farmers,” he stressed.

For WMU, the visit represents an opportunity to strengthen synergy between the government and industry players in supporting the sustainability of Indonesia’s livestock industry. As an integrated poultry company, WMU operates across various stages of production, including breeding, hatchery operations, commercial farming, slaughtering, and poultry product processing. Through this integrated business model, WMU is committed to supporting the availability of animal protein while fostering a healthy, sustainable, and equitable industry ecosystem for all supply chain participants.

In line with this commitment, WMU also promotes social inclusion by creating local employment opportunities and providing fair access for local communities to participate in the poultry industry, both through employment and involvement in the supply chain. WMU aims to ensure that its presence generates economic benefits for surrounding communities while supporting inclusive and sustainable regional development.

WMU hopes that stronger oversight and coordination between the government and relevant stakeholders will help establish a more transparent and equitable distribution system, safeguard the sustainability of livestock businesses, and ensure that consumers have access to food at reasonable prices. WMU is also committed to supporting national food security while promoting a more equitable distribution of economic benefits, local employment, and community empowerment to foster inclusive and sustainable regional growth.
